Compromise – noun: an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions.  verb: accept standards that are lower than desirable. (Oxford)

Romans 12 gives us a lot of instruction.

Romans 12:2 “…be not conformed to this world: but…transformed…”

Conformed – behave according to socially acceptable standards (Oxford)

Transformed – make a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance or character of. For instance, “an automobile that transformed into a boat” (Oxford)

We live in a world that is known for compromise. Our mandate from Christ is to love mercy.

Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

Justly – 1. According to what is morally fair. 2. In a way that is well founded; justifiably (Oxford)

Compromise weakens. Doing justly reinforces and strengthens. There is a vast difference between compromise, or dealing justly and loving mercy. The key is “Walk humbly with thy Lord.”
